Here at Highway Tire Auto & Lube, we know how much you depend on your car, and we want to help you keep it in the best possible condition. To keep your car in good working order, it’s essential to practice good car maintenance. In this article, we’ll be going over three essential steps for proper car maintenance to help you take care of your vehicle.
- Change the Oil- One of the most important parts of car maintenance is to regularly change the oil, which will help your engine run more efficiently and prevent it from overheating. The guidelines on when to change your oil will vary from car to car, but most experts recommend doing so twice a year. This is a pretty messy task, but fortunately you can turn to our team at Highway Tire Auto & Lube to take care of it for you if you’d rather not deal with the cleanup.
- Check Your Tire Pressure- Another key part of car maintenance is checking and adjusting your tire pressure. Your tires need to be inflated to the right level of pressure in order to do their job and prevent blowouts, and you can find that information printed on the inside of the driver’s door jamb or in the owner’s manual. We recommend checking your tire pressure once a month and adjusting as needed.
- Check the Other Fluids- In addition to motor oil, your car uses other important fluids, such as coolant, brake fluid, and transmission fluid to do its job. Another good car maintenance practice is to regularly check the levels of these fluids. You can check your transmission fluid with a dipstick, just like with your oil, and check the others by removing the cap for the container and taking a look–all except for coolant, which you should inspect by looking at the transparent refill container instead, as removing the radiator cap can lead to injuries. Of course, if you’d rather trust a professional to perform this inspection, you can turn to our team at Highway Tire Auto & Lube to take care of all your car maintenance needs instead.
