Oil ChangeAs a vehicle owner, you probably already know that you should take your car in for an oil change on a regular basis. However, you may still be unsure as to how often the oil in your car really needs to be changed.

The Standard Answer

At Highway Tire Auto & Lube, we generally recommend bringing your car into our shop for an oil change every three months, or every time you drive between 3,000 and 5,000 miles. However, it’s important to keep in mind that this recommendation can vary based on how many miles you’ve put on your car, how old it is, and other factors. We’d be more than happy to provide you with a specific recommendation regarding how often you need to get your oil changed.

Don’t Put it Off

Once we help you determine how often you need to bring your car in for an oil change, it’s absolutely critical that you don’t go too long without changing your oil. As time passes, contaminants accumulate in your oil, and this substance becomes less and less viscous. These contaminants also cause the parts in your engine to rub together with greater friction. This friction can wear your car parts out, and the damage caused by not changing your oil has the potential to significantly harm your engine.

If it’s been a while since you had an oil change done, give us a call. Remember, at Highway Tire Auto & Lube, we’re here to meet all of your vehicle maintenance needs.
