How do you keep your vehicle’s paint job looking shiny and new? One of the best ways to protect your vehicle’s exterior is to wash and wax it regularly. Follow these proper washing techniques to help keep your vehicle looking like new.

Rinse–Before you think about laying one washing mitt on your vehicle, thoroughly spray the entire vehicle from top to bottom to remove as much dirt and abrasives as possible. This will prevent you from rubbing dirt into the vehicle when you wash it.

Wash–Use a quality automotive cleanser and a soft cotton or microfiber washing mitt. Wash and rinse one section at a time to keep the soap from drying on (washing your car in the shade helps). Start at the top and work your way down.

Dry–Don’t be tempted to skip this step. Drying your vehicle with a cotton cloth or sheepskin chamois will help prevent water spots.

Wax–There are many types of car wax to choose from, including paste, liquid, and spray. Find the one that works best for you.

Immediately remove harmful contaminants from your vehicle: gasoline, tree sap, bird droppings, and bugs.
